Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize her own performance. It is helping him to learn rather than teaching him. -John Whitmore
The Early Childhood Coaching project is about providing individualized on-site technical assistance and support to child care programs in the region in an effort to improve the quality of child care for families, children and staff.
Coaching project is based on:
- Respect for teacher's goals and the program's administrative needs;
- Constructive feedback based on observation of classroom;
- Shared reflection on children’s experiences in context of classroom environment and teaching practices.
The Collaborative Coaching Project began in 1998 as an award from the Hartford School Readiness Council’s Quality Enhancement fund. The project assists programs in:
- meeting school readiness requirements,
- writing quality improvement plans, and
- maintaining NAEYC accreditation standards. More>>>
