Let's Talk... it makes a difference!
Did you know...
- literacy and learning begin at birth?
- adults need to be talking with babies right from the start?
- the size of a preschooler's vocabulary is a strong predictor of her future academis success?
- some children have heard 30 million more words than others by the time they're 3 years old? And that
- literacy is also a strong predictor of health outcomes?
Let's Talk is an oral language development campaign started in Cambridge, Massachusetts by The Agenda for Children that impresses upon parents the importance of talking with and reading to very young children. Training provides parents and child care providers with tools and strategies to improve the quality and quantity of conversations taking place between young children, their parents, their teachers, and their communities, in order to improve children's language development.
